Review - Haven Hold
(Version March 11th 2023)
Synopsis: Forge Outpost is vibrant melee map offering a four-player and eight-player versions. The inversed layout with low-ground bases gives unusual flow to the game. Base entrances leading directly to the central circles increases the chance of clashing early, though players can destroy Rock Chunks to gain a second access from their base.
Map Aesthetics: The terrain looks decent. The black dirt looks gorgeous next to the vibrant greens, good job. There could be more height variation to give a more natural look to the terrain. Visual clarity looks good. Well done.
Map Layout: The layout is unusual. The bases are surprisingly close to one another and I wonder if its an issue to wall-in a player? It's good that there's a second pathway out of the base with the Rock Chunks. Goblin Laboratories also allow players to transverse through the terrain without care for cliffs or trees. The outer circle looks nice, though it does take a long time to walk around it.
Neutral Objectives: The creep camp placement has been once again thought out very well, and even creeps that initially seem like a tight fight function correctly and don't seemingly aggro on players passing by. The creep camps seem of appropriate strength and fit the map thematically. Goob job. Six Goblin Laboratories are quite plentiful for 8 players - perhaps unnecessarily plentiful, especially for the four-player version.
Map Gameplay: The unusual layout gives the game-flow an interesting setting. While the initial bases are relatively close to one another, they're also quite safe during the early stages of the game unless rushed successfully. The rock chunks offer alternative pathing out of the base and the potential access to the outer ring (square) allows players to access additional resources. Nice unique item drops in the corners give some flavor to the gameplay. The corner camps could be a lot easier to take - especially in the four-player version (Level 30 camp is tough).

Recommendations:
The terrain quality could be increased by incorporating height variation to give the ground a more natural, flowing look. This is up to the author.
