The easiest way to get the 500K achievement is to use a gamepad, like an Xbox 360 controller, and map the button to the actions of the game (space bar - shoot, ctrl - bomb, arrow keys - move).
Then, using the gamepad to keyboard mapper, you can set it so the Space Bar is toggled on and off, and also determine the number of "auto" space bars made. For example, you can make the Xbox 360 Right Trigger to Space Bar. Then, set it to be clicked 30 times per second. This will allow your Viking to auto shoot everything at the fastest rate possible.
Now, the game is just a matter of avoiding missiles and aiming the Viking. You don't have to worry about spamming missiles, since it's done automatically. That was the most tedious part of the game.
I was able to get 500K+ in a single run without much difficulty.
You could also just have a program repeatedly spam Space Bar while you are playing.
