67chrome: The stone and vegetation look as though they were created from filters, and because I mostly interpret freehand content as content you can copyright to your own name, I don't think this much filter abuse will fly.
Also, while the unwrap seems to look somewhat well designed, the wrapping job it does on the model is not very impressive. You should take into account how something is going to wrap onto the model, and add shading and highlights in the appropriate areas to make things look more dynamic.

Every little detail in how the skin wraps around the model is considered, the stone is shaded on the scythes to make them look sharper and like they are made of stone, even the edges look as though they are carved from stone.
Anyways, I would recommend trying out more freehand techniques, if you're having trouble in that area you might want to check out the skinning tutorials in the 2D art section of the tutorials. I like the direction the skin is going, but it needs a lot more work
