Is it possible for a custom map to use the old models and not the newly reforged? I created a custom map a loong time ago and used models from the hive that match the old look and not the newly reforged - is there a setting that allows a custom map to use the old models instead of the newly reforged ones? Or is there a simple hack that I'm not seeing?

I know the setting in the options menu - can I set it for the player and restore it when he closes the map?

There are two aspects of this: if you want people to only be able to use SD, you can do what Uncle said and set the map's "supported modes" to SD. Otherwise the player chooses whether they want to use SD or HD, before starting game, so there is no change really needed, but it can be useful.
