Here's a thing when I make texture, I work exactly to that ratio; 512 work on 512 and 256 work on 256. Sometimes, a theme determinate the size.

Example: "Coral Razormane" is a 256 texture, you could argue better detail on coral if use on 512. Here's a thing, you don't need that in gameplay as the color already carry this skin and razormane is not big. So the model also factor the ratio here.

"ALPHA Destroyer" is a 512 texture but need upscaled because how difficult to work on destroyer, believe me that is 2 months old skin work here and to this day I still upset that there is no review and got cheated by Archian. Okay wrong route, the needed upscale was due to the theme nature of it, mecha or robotic skin need a lot of room for detail the metal part so it's justified.

The opposite would be "Phosphorus Wonder", AoW texture already 512 by default but we know that it's unnecessary to use 512 for a texture mainly green color. The simple theme don't need a 512 to begin with.

In Shidoverse, Frozen Centaurs are not hostile to strangers due to their previous life as centaur who make a sin of sparing a living being. They got exiled to the mountain where they died but later resurrected by the Lady of the North and was given a chance to give in to their heart. They were tasked to guide traveler their path if they have good intention or sway away the enemy because death by cold is a fate worse than starvation... the one centaurs wish upon no one should suffer as they were.

Frozen Centaurs are also the one who help Francis (LBL) to find Selena when she was just reborn as banshee. They mention her scream is louder than the mother bear last roar of life so they probably relief that scream later stopped.

[yes, LotN is not Selena. That lady is 200x older than Selena who is 500+ years olds]

Finally, Shidoverse now have its own award called the Legendary Texture Award - A special title for the skins I made in this site.
To qualify, they must be made by Shido and must be currently approved under recommended rating and above.

There are 5 categories:

The Never-Ending Fun: Joke skins have it own place on Hive and when good jokes are good, they are worth caught attentions.
The Raid Boss: The most badass skin usually qualify here, these skins usually make you want to conquer that thing.
The Charisma: Skins design to drove an eye of the viewer about their design or their concepts.
The People: Skins beloved by Hivers, Modders and even Artist. Talk about fan favorites.
The Legend: The best skins of the entire catalog and also consider to be if not extremely close to the actual Director Cut.

When the award start giving in? At the middle of December. Each winner will have a big overview from me.

I am also happy to announce that I will going to update Frozen Centaur and Nuclear Chemist Sapper as they were the older skins releasing similar date at the time. Frozen Centaur particular being the first skin review by our gud friend, betsy/footman. It's up to him if he need a re-review in his formula.

Don't worry, the legacy version is staying for historical reasoning. Notice that their 2nd year anniversary will get a custom hand-drawn icon for their bonus. This is also my thanks to the people supporting them over the years.

Some people wonder why Oni is not being update as well, for a debut skin. It's simply way too good and even use in Descend map as a treasure ogre. Perhap Oni is good enough not to need a skin update. :>

Hello, you haven't heard of my news profile post these day in a while but it's not too late to announce it now so "drink some water" and let's dive in.

Let's talk about obviously, skins. With Orcish Avenger Ship came out live for the contest, I will announce that we will have the first Hive Member texture, bet that general is gotta push some weight with all those metal. Yes, Frank The Tank Engine will arrive with a brewmaster texture and he is fully aware of this skin so don't worry. After that, I would release couple of standalone skins, one of them is probably something you have never seen before. By the time we reach October, I will persue to do the Army Of Lightning Bundle. I have plan this bundle for a long time and we can still discuss what unit will be in there.

Thank you for supporting the Orcish Avenger Ship, it was pleasing that for a ship to get such amazing reception. Normally I'm not a traditional skin person but I feel like this was reasonable for the theme and for the people using the texture. Hopefully we will see on like this in a future.

As I working on this boat, I question myself whether the boat is capable of SD-ified? Surprisingly yes. I think when I resize through bicubic sampling, it still look great despite half sizing it. When the contest over, I will kindly provide the SD version of that boat or you can do that for yourself while the entry is working in contest.

Wow knowledge can be extremely helpful in this theme contest as elite must stay with their origin otherwise you be off the theme. While warcraft 3 and wow doesn't fully share their lore, they still give you a further sight how a unit you would see in warcraft 3 can be advanced in the wow counterpart.

Don't be afraid if you are stuck with lack of idea how to make it a final form to them. Do some research, get inspired, you will be okay.

Now you probably thinking: "Well shido, this contest now only relying on poll votes meaning no matter how close their origin to their normal encounter, they don't care, they just care which one look prettiest."

Yeah, i'm fully aware that, you would argue someone can go fully off the theme and people still end up voting higher than they shouldn't be. I don't know about that last part and you are capable to open up an arguement. Seriously, do your best.

No, even they both share the same race, that's not elite, that's corruption. Fel magic also hurt their morality while elite intentionally improve almost everything.

Is gold bad in Final Form theme?

No, unless you exaggerated by turning their gear gold. I don't know have you ever play minecraft but you know gold is not reliable material. Gold plated is fine as expensive gear make limit elite seat which helpful for theme.

Is it possible to lose more armor than original to become elite?

Yes, it's possible because if you are well trained, you wouldn't be needing that much armor. This is helpful for Night Elf but they are willingly equip better to prepare anything rather than arrogance.

Now here's a thing about the final form theme. Our dear archian may be either accidentally not included it or just soften the theme goal here.

Final form mean the ultimate stage of that kind of unit, the elite version of them, not the better version of it. Elite mean the strongest possible level you can possibly get. If you can make a unit elite but someone can turn that skin much more elite without changing their race, it's basically you failed the whole theme here.

This however doesn't mean you must cover everything in armor, elite doesn't mean more armors but rather the most effective unit for their job.

Now I got in a couple of scrambled questions so might as well answer it here in the second post.

So what is the story about Sour Brawl Dancers?
They are female wrestlers who secretly a friend and play in organize ring that mainly hosting woman fight each other for fun and never really for money sake.
This skin is not canon to Shidoverse for joke reasoning.
Hence we will get another harpy and demoness skin in any future.
When making them, the harpy was painful to work around compare to demoness. But after long struggle, i finally give two side equal quality and I'm fine where It goes.
Both fighters are secretly in love which yes, this confirmed they are lesbians. I dunno when I ever make another duel skin that both character are gays. I will have to think more than that, you let me know what theme come to mind.

So what is going on behind the scene at the moment?

I have like 3 skins outside contest in the work and they will be release in this week and next week.

The first 2 will count as one because they are sharing the same theme. Do you ever heard of Seraphim on the ring? Yeah, you will expect that.

The third one is obviously the destroyer skin that dragged a bit too long but because previous event i say that thing is collection my emotion.

After 3 skins, I finally dip my hand into Texturing Contests #32 - I have research a bit for boats, ships and while i got some decent choices and essays on elite ships. I still think i will try to play it safe.

So how lower the standard I will change when comes to skins?
It's noticably lower because I stop consideration on rating which mean yeah, no more prediction whether that thing is HQ or recommended or not. Tom's extremism day is over and I have given a new passion to move on.

Art is subjective so shading wise shouldn't be prioritized. Sometime you leave plain for a reason.
Ratio in skin size has been minimalized in comparison.
The mimimal rating I can give you will always be 3 so no matter how horrible your skin, your rating will always be 3 or above. It's better than nothing so yeah, don't leave it blank here Betsy.
No matter what theme you do, I still review based on how it brought it own unique. Don't be scared of being wacko mode.

Now here is a new thing I will do (situational)

My review will also provide the info of the model to assist making a better work. So if you have problem like making a creative Ent Skin for example, I will try to help you what I can do.
If you can't get ingame screenshots, don't panic. I will double check when available.
Incorrected path will also be corrected or provide alternative in the reply.

Now you probably thinking? But Shido, your main reason was Envy. We know that you got jealous and it's true no matter what. Yeah, indeed I get envious from him but if that was the case then the breakdown will call for his name making him personal. In current day, I still didn't have grudge aganist him since I didn't mean malice him in the first place.

I'm not trying to make myself innocent since i let my emotion uncontrolable and I should have maintain my well-being better. This is not my first time I got Hive Breakdown (looking at you past me with Hive Heroes) and i already got slap in the wirst and perma-traumatized part. Would I still flame him? No. Still, this is not new and i'm learn to move with it instead hide it away. I can lose trust from the people I love but I didn't want force you to agree with me all the time. In the end, we must agreed to move on with this drama and improve ourselves in the hardest time.

What's happen since the last reply in that thing? A lot of re-values, i mean LOTS of re-values. Inside developing, LB Groom name is Francis (nothing to do with general frank btw) while his lover is called Selena. Originally the Bride is named Perdida which literally mean Lost, one of my best friend who actually irl voice over Tongueless Horror taunting the bride and name her Selena instead. She made such good impression that I decide that Selena is the Bride name while the groom is called what he is. Both of them is currently unknown with the last name but I do know they are not sharing one

So what is going to change for LBC?

We have to say goodbye to the pencil horn on Groom head, this is my regret thought this is a good idea so we ditch it out from it.
At the end of the day, he is still undead but he always has a human heart, we want to focus on that.
Tone down the color, while the color palette is biggest point of that bundle. We tone it down for neutrality, yes this mean TC-friendly is coming in.
The Bride will also given a change to slightly younger as she has moved on from the trauma. We have afford enough to give her a couple of make up.
This is still a wedding skin but we will fantasize a bit more on the ice as this is where they were revived in their cursed form.

My Destroyer is growing in power a bit too much in resources so will not having a third skin this month. This however help us release what will probably dethroned the current best skin holding by Coral Razormane. This one is something you have never seen before and will land a history in skin making just like Kodo Jockey.

Thank you for supporting the release of Tongueless Archer, probably the most dangerous skin i have put on risk fearing my life of nudity concern but i guess the giant pleased.

Not only dethorning Desolation Skirmisher for the most evilist texture in the entire Shido skin catalog but land an astonish remarks rivaling out to one of my top 3 skins. You boys like her because of her face make it even more pleasing since i know some of you are known to be pretty "naughty".

Still, this isn't over yet as June is just starting and you read my last profile post that Destroyer skin will be coming this june. Keep in mind, this is not going to be your typical anubis. You know how I capable of transforming them, regardless it will rollout later on.

Perhap June is going to have 3 skins and while the first 2 will stand on it own, the third skin will be related to the previous skin. Stay tuned.

I like adding charm to my own resource. It's no surprise to everyone because you see this you expect to be some knight in shiny armor scenario or sexy lady stuff.
In most case, possibly with sexy lady although the only lady you saw from me is from the bundle Last Bloom Couple.

From the Discord we know that the next skin will be an Archer skin but with a twist that only Discord know. I still doing adjustment because it may end up be a controversial skin and heavy talking from good ol greyman. Who btw actually followed me.

What is next after that? Think how i make skin in order of races, custom don't count because contest reasoning. You have dwarf which i count as human, orc, creep, critter and night elf building. The next skin is from night elf unit that debut this mean the next one will be for the undead. Embrace yourself, you will find me in a situation where no man would dare to beat the unimaginable.

Because we will TOUCH THE D E S T R O Y E R. This won't be your anubis, this will be legendary. This will make Coral Razormane look like childplay. Embrace the new chapter of me.

Alright, let's talk about future skin.

I have told you that this month I will make Army Of Lightning bundle. That's a thing should have been done last month but i have to bring in a bad news.
Army Of Lightning is canceled until we get enough steam to do.
This is more quality control because we ain't getting breaks from the Genesaur and personally as I said, i wasn't give two crap about winning.

Instead of actually give you promises coming out next, I just casually make skins in my interests. Afterall, no one announce that Oni is coming to the skin section right.
Good skin start from geniunes work.

I don't know how much i gotta make but I will gather enough steam for the bundle to happen. In mean time, be your best.

It's not common to actually a morally-good heroic texture in my resource like Last Bloom Groom (lich), The Prime Wolver (wolf) or Kabuki Giants (Sea Giant).
Dune Reaper Firelord is a bit middle of being heroic or anti-heroic but you could argue Localized Protection, which also could argue for Last Bloom Bride (Banshee)
Tesseract Gnoll is Star-Lord based so he mostly anti-hero.
Desolation Skirmisher is currently the most evilist texture I have ever made but countered by Galactus logic rule.

Yes, I have wanted to get Director Cut for a long time but I don't want my reward to feel forced. Everytime I reach a point, a potential above my head is screaming at me to do better and better. It's like going to the moon feeling, do you think we gotta stop where Coral Razormane get DC because I consider this to be the best skin I have ever made? Even with Genesaur in comparison is close call here. It's like I experience both scenario that I felt a strong force going in my vein when making both of them. It's a bloody waking call that to go beyond what i capable of.

Sunweaver Genesaur has something that I didn't have when making Coral Razormane, the power of conceptation. The imagination went through it is 10x more than Karl which the idea simply being a coral pig. The idea of a sun-wielding genesaur that has opposite moral direction compare to it kinds. When I making it, the last thing i wanna do is to make the Sunweaver look threaten. All of this can be seen when you look at the portrait, he looks like a concerned person than actually try to be aggresive....

Due to decent reception from the recent release Sunweaver Genesaur, the hydra that was introduced in The One Who Walk Under The Sun video will also be made after Genesaur. Although I will keep it consistent with design of Desolation Skirmisher because they are both related.

Notice that this hydra is different from the video because the one you saw is possessed. By nature, it's likely Skirmisher has seen this creation from the star and love it design so much that he made one for his own.

Now I get that I was and still a control freak in that contest. I admit that and i'm a fk up person to enforcing it but in this case, you kinda have to.
We know this will lead to public poll decide the winner and not the judge. I literally point out in the biltzworgen skin that you cant go 1024 even if this is just optional.

And no, Archian can never reverse that because what if they actually work their resource in 512 ratio the whole time. As a matter of fact, the size of a texture allowed is a game changer by default. Some theme must need that size extension to do so.

Bias in poll is undoubtedly huge here. You wouldn't force a rule to make the voter explain why they vote, do you?

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't force them. It's mostly guts feeling, which is how most people would do.

Oops, I make a mistake so delete the post to reconfirm a point.
The upcoming entry in texturing contest is a polyamorous character, meaning they in love for 2 people each other.

Last time I point out I will target at Solar theme and I stick to it, there are also 2 other people which is The Lunar and The Ocean will be introduced in the future.
To make it fair, all 3 of them will be custom model to be consistent.

So how is my entry? I say around 35% true potential because this skin is techinically done if I was on my normal standard. Yes, I intentionally hide the full model reveal because I think you rather have anticipation with it.

The feet screenshot is official WIP-2 meaning it give a strong clue of what original model that I am using it. This is also the final WIP publicly til the final reveal.
