What program did you use to make this?
If you're using an old version of Microsoft Paint, it's usually not going to cut it.
I recommend using GIMP. It's free!
You guys are so mean. This looks like the quality of one of my first icons.
A few people helped me out, and while I'm still terrible, I was much better after their help.

This is how people start out. All the greats were noobs once too.
What you need is some shading. Define the outside edge of the sword a bit.
Additionally, it doesn't really resemble a sword, like Dagger said,
it kind of looks like a tooth.
Also, if you want to keep that shine effect, I recommend some darker colors,
lead up to the shine. You want it to contrast a little with the whole of the sword.
