Since when did porn suddenly become illegal? Are The Hive Workshop located in North Korea?

I get why you don't want porn linked, but out right calling it illegal is bit odd. Certain types of porn are illegal (such as snuff or rape), but in general pornography isn't per say illegal. Either slightly rewrite the "Don't break the law" point, or give pornography its own small point where perhaps also the limits on how you can discuss porn is defined. Like for instance right now I am talking about pornography, but in a way related to the topic of the rule creation process, and as so that shouldn't be punishable, but if I were linking to www.randompornsite.com that should be punishable, etc.

Lol... It's poorly written, but what they're trying to get across is... Don't be a perv, and link porn to a thread or in chat. <.<

@Pyritie: "assuming the recipient wants it" Lol that just came off creepy by itself haha....

No incomplete maps?

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...9b-112705/?prev=of=downloads_month&order=DESC

funny thing is that it's also a hosted project
That's not a real WIP.

The rules state that the map must be like the final product, that doesn't mean it must be the final product.
Late-stage beta maps are allowed (most of the time all systems are present and the entire gameplay is ready to go, only some minor flaws and features will be added with later updates).

Most maps will never be really completed, thus they will always be late beta.
That's a fact.

Not to be a dick or anything but is there a point to updating the rules? I would like a small inkling of context behind this decision.

Not that I have a problem or really care; but it comes off as a big joke with the site owners as the butt of it in the current form.

It's sorta hard to teach moderators how to do their job when you don't give them anything to go on but a big jumbled list.

Not to be a dick or anything, but have you actually done an in-depth comparison of the new and old rules to know what's actually changed? :p

I agree with you there Hakeem.

Seems like it clearly outlines what is and what isn't tolerated. Where as before it was this huge wall o' text that was a PITA to read and from which someone could infer multiple meanings.

Not to say this rule update is completely airtight, but it's an improvement.

Wow, so you really think of this as some sort of professional job of any importance beyond kicking out trolls and removing unorthodox content? That is all it really takes to be a mod.

First, I asked you why the rules have been changed; essentially telling me to figure it out myself is the opposite of 'not trying to be a dick'. Second, I have a life which involves fresh air; as such, in-depth analysis on meaningless sets of rules is not a priority of mine.

hmmm...I can't exactly say what I'm thinking for fear of being yelled at by the mods(because I'd have to go very far offtopic), but I'd stop flaming while I was behind, if i were you Urlock...

Good job on clearing up many unclear points in the original rules hakeem

If this were just a forum, or if we didn't moderate resources, sure. Even then, what defines trolling and when is a subject taken too far? It isn't always immediately apparent to everyone, or we'd have more mods than we know what to do with.
First, I asked you why the rules have been changed.
You actually asked what purpose changing them has served. If you took the time to compare them, you might see some purpose in it.

They have been changed to be more clear and to the point, less irrelevant information. Some things that were hard and fast rules before have now been loosened to the new etiquette distinction. I think they also better reflect what type of site this is intended to be than they did before.

Also the summaries were drafted so people who aren't "professional" can read them and get the gist of it.

In other words, the new rules will make people go less TL;DR than what they did in the old rules.

Oh and I repeat about what I said earlier in this thread...
Now we need is to make sure that the Rules link on the top will direct users to the new rules page. Because that link still directs to the old FAQ page.
